portfolio pictures of wearable pieces

Thankyou so much to Paul Critchley for taking these amazing pictures for me....and to Amber Roberts for being a patient model. Drew did a good job of holding up the white sheet too....I'm really happy with the results I've achieved with these pieces and the photo's show them off really well. Lets hope they are recieved well at my final presentation......

Final photos of non-functional mixed media vessels

These six pieces are the best of the nine I have completed so far....hand in is on Wednesday so I might just get get another one done....I'll see, I ordered more copper 4 weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived yet. I only have a very small amount of silver left too so it would not be enough to complete anything. I am getting much quicker at the crocheted elements though so if  by chance the copper appears before I leave for Plymouth tomorrow then I might get another one finished.

Completed raku pieces......

Raku rocks...I have someone on the case to make me a raku kiln in his field so I can make lots of these!!

I liked the edges with just the foundation row of copper.....

So this piece is going to stay as it is...half a pot!!!

This is my absolute favorite piece...having a photo shoot tomorrow to get the pics I need for my portfolio.....so I'll be posting better pics of all my completed pieces soon.

non-functional vessel

This was a surprise...I'd done a test piece with this glaze, called Aventurine, it was predominantly blue with hints of grey and brown......This definately doesn't have any blue in it now!!

Foundation row in copper to fill void....this vessell has two and is the closest piece I have made to the origional shape.

I wanted to make the copper more substantial than in previous pieces so after filling the void I went over it again, this was quite a complicated task but well worth the effort.

I am happy with these results : )

Red ceramic and silver wearable pieces

I decided to make some uniform pieces...unusual for me!!

Thought I'd use the very expensive red raku glaze I'd bought and fire in the electric kiln because the  results when I'd used the microwave kiln and then reduced were not very good. These are much better and actually usable....so what to do with them? I don't want to use copper as the colours would not compliment each other.....I'll try silver

mmmm.....I'm liking this combination.

I have enough pieces to make another one.....and a whole reel of silver.
This piece became very extravigant...

I liken the ceramic pieces to tiles being grouted together with silver

The texture is made with crocheted cotton chain stitch, the silver is crocheted chain stitch. The chain goes from the silver over the ceramic then back into the silver to create a solid textile

One finished vessel and a few more prior to copper additions...

Speckled green gloss

Spirit fired 3 times......

Spirit and turquoise raku....

Raku......wow!!!!

loading the kiln

up to temperature.....

Pretty hot stuff....and Dan!!!

Tranfered to ash.....

.....just a few sparks.....once placed into the ash, the pots were covered and sealed into the stell bin, then I had to play the waiting game......

Definitely worth the wait...I love these results and couldn't wait to get started with the copper....

I'm now going to be kept busy finishing off......watch this space!!!!
